Spirugrow

Starting with well-defined project objectives, the goal was to create the world’s first device for home cultivation of fresh spirulina. The challenge was to integrate clean, minimalist design with innovative product engineering solutions, a process that involved the use of advanced technologies and 3D printing to produce working prototypes.

After establishing the aesthetic lines, the focus was on developing the seaweed cultivation system, a collaboration with research centers at the Universities of Bologna and Florence. Once the optimal components and their placement within the device were defined, the focus shifted to mechanical engineering of the product. Using additive manufacturing, two ABS prototypes were created to test the shape and ergonomics of the device, leading to the next phase of testing and final production.
